Triumph then sleepy

December 13, 2025

Big jitters the night before semester-end reviews; it’s been scary and exhilarating going back to school after a 14 year hiatus from…well…everything!

I ended up having an incredible time & getting wonderful feedback from faculty. It was fun as hell staying up ‘til midnight the night before seeing everyone put the finishing touches on their spaces.

I spent a lot of this Fall season thinking about compartmentalized worlds, grids, and tiny openings into tiny spaces. As I was cleaning up details in preparation for the next day I decided to draw up a really quick schema of my exhibition space. I started getting this funny feeling like we were inside a grid of our own. Recursive labeling, exponential changes in scale, nesting spaces, da da da….

& I got to do it in style :-)

Now time for a rest. I’ve started looking into some things totally unrelated to school and I think it’s taking form like some sort of hybrid memoir-research paper about Chosŏn-Catholic syncretism and cultural hybridity in my own life. One of my Very Cool Professors has suggested reading some Wittgenstein so I’ve gotten a scrubby PDF of his Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus and I will try my best, fingers crossed. Maybe we will go on a road trip.
